The new store's JUST opened and is crammed with great Tesco products and laid out really well - so you can easily find what you're looking for. Maps are also on hand for those who get lost in the store!! The staff always go the extra mile to help...as they say 'every litle helps'! And Tesco have gone all out here, employing 300 local people to make sure this store lives up to your expectations.

Tesco teams up with Fresh to celebrate the new store opening!

For the first time, Tesco has got together with Fresh Radio to give shoppers a chance to win some great prizes. And we don't do things by halves! We're starting the celebrations with a great giveaway in store and following it up with a fun competition on the Breakfast Show, so theres loads of chanced for you to be a winner!

To celebrate the opening, we've been meeting customers and listeners on Saturday 5th September and giving away loads of goodies too. Julian broadcast live throughout the day too. All day, we gave away some great prizes including a mobile phone, a DVD player, A toaster, chocolates, vouchers, DVD's, a fluffy duvet, beans on toast (yes - thats right!), champagne, oh....and a bunch of bananas!!!!

Somebody had to win the booby prize and we're please to say that even the customers who won the beans on toast and the bananas were still smiling! Irene from Barnoldswick turned up laden with her re-useable bags (so glad people are now being really concious and using those nice strong re-useable ones!) and she went away with a tin of beans and a loaf, so she'll be happliy making beans on toast later! Smiling even more were the winners of the DVD player and the new Nokia Tesco Mobile.

The lovely Tiiu was on hand from the Fresh Team making sure everything went well and taking pictures - she takes a pretty good picture herself...or should that be 'of herself'? The Fresh team helped new customers find their way around the new store too - like finding the all important cash machines. James even got lost in 'fruit and veg' minutes before he was due to read the lunchtime news. must have words with him!!! Still, he did come back with some rather nice asparagus.

We had loads of fun meeting shoppers and listeners who'd made the special effort to come and see us - some had travelled quite a way to see what Julian and James looked like. Familiar voices became familiar faces and we're really pleased to have met some of our regular early morning listeners.

We caught up with Sam from Skipton, who's baby's due in one week! A couple who'd driven all the way from Pateley Bridge for the opening and loads of Skipton people enjoying their first 'BIG SHOP' at the new Tesco Skipton!

Store Manager, Claire Palmer, has had a busy few weeks getting everything ready for the grand opening and, credit to Claire and her team, they've done a great job. Claire's from Clitheroe and travels 'over 'th'ill' to make sure everything runs like clockwork.

Claire says she's really enjoyed getting everything ready for the opening and, interviewed live on air, she said that its been hard work but she's loved every minute of it. We didn't get many words out of her before her beeper went off - another call to help out in store. what a lovely lady and someone we're sure you'll see around the store when you're in doing your shopping!

Community Champion

Tesco has also introduced a new role for one of their team as Community Champion and Sandra at Skipton has that job. She's responsible for helping local community groups and charitable organisations, lending Tesco's support where ever they can - what thoroughly nice people they are! We didnt manage to get a picture of Sandra on the day - so instead, here's a picture of another lucky competition winner who went away with a voucher to spend in store! Her mum was most impressed that she won!

Your new Tesco Opening times - 24 hour shopping at it's best!

Now you can shop in Skipton at a time to suit you as Tesco opens around the clock! 24 Hour shopping means you can pick up your groceries when it suits you. If you run short of something, Tesco is open round the clock, so pop in - they're sure to have it!

Tesco is open from 8am Monday to 10pm Saturday and on Sundays 10am till 4pm

The new petrol station is open all day, everyday for fuel, with automatic pay-pumps when there is no attendant, so you'll never run out of petrol!
